The French Senate have proposed in March 2016 the implementation of a 300% tax on palm oil imports in an effort to address concerns over biodiversity as part of a national law on biodiversity.

If approved by the government, the proposal is expected to be implemented by 2017. Bastien Sachet, the CEO of TFT has stepped forward to deliver an alternative solution to the French government.
