Oleofinos is part of the Oleomex Group, headquartered in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. The company produces refined palm oil and palm kernel oil used as ingredients, and also markets finished products such as oils and soaps that contain these materials.
Oleofinos operates two refineries in Mexico, located in Zapopan (Jalisco) and Chinameca (Veracruz). These facilities source palm oil primarily from four Oleopalma mills within the Oleomex Group, three located in Chiapas and one in Tabasco. Additionally, Oleofinos collaborates with other direct and indirect palm oil suppliers.
Oleofinos continues to collaborate with Earthworm Foundation in the Chiapas landscape initiative. As part of this initiative, the company utilises Starling satellite monitoring to help identify and mitigate deforestation risks within its palm oil supply chain, with a particular focus on enhancing engagement with indirect suppliers.
Oleofinos has collaborated with Earthworm Foundation since the Chiapas landscape began in 2016–2017. They joined supplier engagement with members and, in March 2021, began monitoring 100% of their palm supply chain for deforestation using Starling.
Since 2023, Oleofinos continues to use Starling to monitor potential deforestation across 100% of its palm oil supply and has received positive feedback on these efforts from several Earthworm Foundation member companies.
Oleofinos has improved its grievance mechanism through collaboration with Earthworm Foundation, as part of a member-led programme supporting suppliers in strengthening their internal processes.
Palm oil is a highly versatile and relatively low-cost vegetable oil, used in food, personal care products, and bioenergy. It is also a very high-yield crop, producing significantly more oil per hectare than most other vegetable oil crops.
Through its engagement with Earthworm Foundation, Oleofinos participates in landscape-level collaboration and supplier-focused initiatives aimed at better understanding deforestation risks and strengthening management practices across its palm oil supply chain. This work reflects a step-by-step approach, shaped by data, dialogue, and on-the-ground realities.
