Earthworm Foundation’s Centre of Social Excellence (CSE) Africa is now accepting applications for its Social Manager Course, which begins in March 2020 in Yaoundé, Cameroon, and runs until December. CSE is currently looking for motivated professionals who would like to pursue a career as a social practitioner in agriculture, forestry, extractives or the development sector in their home country.

For over a decade CSE Africa has been a flagship programme teaching degree-level students from across Africa the vital skills of building collaboration between companies and local communities. Graduates of the course have gone on to hold positions in government, civil society organisations and some of Africa’s top forestry and agribusinesses, where they influence the responsible production of commodities and help build systems for long-term collaboration and to address conflict constructively.

This is the tenth year the training has been offered. The course includes four months of intensive classroom training by some of the world’s experts on sustainability and social issues, followed by a 5-6 month professional project with a company, NGO or government entity.

Subjects covered in the course include Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC), communication and conflict management, socio-economic studies and the legislative aspects of the forest and agriculture sectors in Central and West Africa.

This course is now closed for applications.

CSE Africa’s 10th training session is funded with UK aid from the UK government.
