The fundamental difference between VT-TV and certification is the starting point. Certification has a multi-stakeholder process which brings people together to determine a standard. But with VT-TV, the values or standards are set by the company itself – not alone or in isolation – the company can talk to NGOs. So it it still a multi-stakeholder process, but the resulting standard is theirs, not somebody else’s.
