At Earthworm Foundation, we are deeply committed to transforming supply chains to deliver social and environmental impact. Our approach to safeguarding is rooted in our mission to respect people and protect nature.
This policy outlines how we integrate safeguarding into our activities to protect individuals, communities and the environment from harm. We recognise that the nature of safeguarding risk varies by context; therefore, our approach is adaptive and responsive to specific challenges.
This policy applies to:
All employees, contractors, and volunteers of Earthworm Foundation; all operations and projects conducted by Earthworm Foundation, regardless of location and all partners, suppliers, and external stakeholders engaged with Earthworm Foundation.
Earthworm Foundation's Executive Team oversees the implementation of this policy.

We aim to establish a way of operating that integrates these commitments, adapts to local contexts and spans the lifecycle of our initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement and responsiveness to evolving risks.

and report regularly and transparently
We will conduct project-level risk assessments to identify potential harms, especially for vulnerable groups. Assessments cover risks related to land rights, gender equity, environment, and community safety. These will inform project activities and safeguarding measures.
We aim to use clear and actionable plans to implement safeguarding measures. We will ensure that all staff and partners are trained in Values in Action and that practices are integrated into project operations. This includes capacitybuilding efforts to equip partners with the skills and knowledge needed to uphold safeguarding standards.
We will maintain robust monitoring mechanisms to track the effectiveness of safeguarding actions and adapt them as needed. This includes grievance mechanisms that allow anyone to report concerns safely and confidentially, with assurance that they will be addressed promptly.
Values in Action is integral to how we work. We aim to ensure that people and nature thrive together, and are committed to justice, transparency, and accountability.
This policy will be reviewed annually and updated to reflect learning, evolving risks, and best practice. We invite all stakeholders to engage with us as we continue to refine and strengthen our safeguarding practices to meet the highest ethical and operational standards.
