Earthworm Foundation’s Centre of Social Excellence (CSE) Africa is now accepting applications for its successful Social Manager Long Course which begins in March 2020 in Yaoundé, Cameroon. CSE is currently looking motivated professionals who would like to pursue a career as a social practitioner with an agriculture or forestry company operating in their home country.
For over a decade CSE Africa has been a flagship programme teaching degree-level students from across Africa the vital skill of building collaboration between companies and forest-dwelling communities. Graduates of the course have gone on to hold positions in government, civil society organisations and some of Africa’s top agribusiness, where they influence the responsible development of commodities and help build relationships between companies and communities.
This is the tenth year the training has been offered. The course includes five months of intensive classroom training by some of the world’s experts on sustainability and social issues, followed by a five-month placement at a company. Subjects covered include Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC), communication and conflict management, socio-economic studies and the legislative aspects of the forest and agricultural sector in Central and West Africa.
