Is it easy to trace a company’s supply of coconut in the Ivory Coast? “That is a good question,” says Peter Bachmann, owner of Pro Fair Trade AG. “To be honest, no – it’s not an easy task.” The company buys mainly fats and oils from developing countries and sells to the Swiss market. With no global guidelines in place on how to produce coconut it is trying to innovate and bring such a product to market.
